ARP Update

The implementation of my ARP has been rough.  The department head of special education resigned for a district position and also left no teacher for 6th grade reading.  During the 3rd week of school a department head for special education was named and then following week a co-teacher was hired for reading.   I have talked to the new department head about my ARP and have her support.  I also meet with the reading department head about being able to discuss co-teach models and effective planning with co-teachers.  I had my first meeting September 19 and it went well.  We are set to have another meeting at the end of the 6 weeks to discuss student grades of special education students in 6th grade reading co-teach classes.  I pulled data about my student population from last years when they was in 5th grade STAAR, CBA and semester exams results for reading.  I pulled last years special education 6th graders STAAR, semester exams, and CBAS for reading and disaggregated the data. I have been able to observe 3 co-teach classes.  Two six grade classes and a 7th grade class.  I saw positive things in theses classes and some areas that need improvement.  I’m using the areas that need improvement as my first topic in our next meeting. My site supervisor has been very supportive of making sure I am able to meet and observe the various reading co-teach classes.  I feel that things are on the right track now and glad that I have so much support from my colleagues.
